OncoAmerica Maracaibo opened its center in November 2003 to serve the community of the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela. Our center offers an integrated service. Each patient and his/her family are seen by our psychologists, nutritionist and our medical staff of radiation oncologists. Our center is the only center in Venezuela with its own simulator, in addition each patient is simulated in a state of art Helical CT-Scanner which allows our physicist to build a 3-dimensional treatment plan using the latest technologist, including CT/MRI/PET fusion, automatic contouring, automatic protection of non-cancerous tissue, automatic generation of best treatment plan, allowing the radiotherapist to best select the optimum treatment plan. OncoAmerica Maracaibo is one of the few privilege centers in Latin America and the only one in Venezuela with Dynamic Multi-Leaf Collimator, IMRT, and Conformal radiotherapy, cranial and whole body Stereotacsy.

Our Maracaibo center is about to go through a big transformation, from a small radiotherapy center with 1-accelerator and 1-simulator to be the Premier Center of Latin America, competing with the best centers in the U.S. and Europe, a center that will provide all of the conventional modalities, including 4-linear accelerators with the latest available technologies, including Intensity Modulated RadioTherapy (IMRT), Stereotactic Radio Surgery (SRS), Stereotactic RadioTherapy (SRT), utilizing the best localizing tools such as CT-Scanning, MRI and PET with 3D reconstruction Computerized Patient Treatment Planning that allows the physician to accurately descriminate between cancerous versus healthy tissue, with Inverse Planning to select dose-specific beam attenuation for the treatment of the tumor. OncoAmerica - Maracibo will have the biggest campus in Latin America which will also act as the teaching arm of the local Medical School.
